Rules, rules. They exist to keep order, and though this be a Pirate atmosphere there must exist a thin line of order and they are as follows:
OOC Rules:
1. No scrolling. While we do appreciate that not everyone has the same ability to write descriptively, we ask that each person attempt to write a coherent, creative paragraph. For this same reason, programed introductions (large paragraphs that are written out before hand and used repeatedly) are discouraged.
2. No OOC- Excluding AFK and Welcome backs, we ask that all OOC be directed to our OOC room (#Starboard). This includes mp3 players and arguing about what has happened IC. If there are any doubts as to whether something is OOC, the moderator has the final say.
3. NO Power Gaming or god moding! This cannot be said enough. If a fight should break out anywhere on the isle of Tortuga, it will only be allowed under the general terms of Para-fighting. Speed fighting, dice fighting, and anything else won't be tolerated, so take it elsewhere. If the duel is to the death, or a battle between two different crews aboard different vessels should ensue, a Tortuga appointed judge must be present.
4. Please use common sense. You cannot decide the action of anyone's characters but your own. This includes mind reading (just don't try without prior permission), any fighting, among any other things that might pop up.
5. YOUR ACTIONS WILL HAVE CONSEQUENCES! Just like real life if you act a certain way, people are bound to respond- and not necessarily in a way that you might like. Be prepared and do not think that you can pick a fight and then try to claim haven. You will only be throwing yourself to the mercy of those in the room.
6. This is a closed RP. Clan tags will not be displayed here, disputes engendered between characters while not within this game will be forgotten while here, and any characters within this area will be considered separate from those outside.
The year is 1624, and a map can be found on the website. Anywhere within this land is open for playing in, excluding activities off the island, such as on your vessel. Please take these scenarioes to whisper or another room, as they are not in any way related to the island.
7. In keeping with pirate lore, as well as pirate reality, we the creators have decided to set certain restrictions against the use of certain varieties of races used for character creation. For an initial trial period, only humans may register to participate in Tortuga. After some time, creation of a non-human character may be allowed at the discretion of the Tortuga staff.
8. Anyone entering the room with an offensive nick shall be banned IMMEDIATELY. NO EXCEPTIONS.
9. This is an R-rated rp. Blood, gore, violence, and such is expected and allowed. Nothing worse then R-rated. That means basically anything is allowed, though harrassment never is, and keep that in mind.
10. The founders of this room are not limited by these rules in the decision making process, they are merely the backbone for it. Above all else, please have fun and enjoy yourselves! If you have complaints, suggestions, questions, or need assistance, consult the forum.
Notice:
It be wise to keep tab upon this here list, some rules may change if need be.
