O'er the 7 vast seas there are many different creatures that roam, and on occasion come to do barting with the isle of Tortuga. Not all are greeted as warmly as others, but these foreign species have become accepted enough to traverse the town free of fear. (Side note - To register as one of these characters you must first submit a request to one of the moderators; Crowdog, Rue, or Scarlet. Careful deliberation will be done before granting character approval, depending on the length of time the player has been with Tortuga, Roleplaying ability, as well as personal discretion. Please refer to the rules for more explanation.)
Character Races:
Harpies - These foul-mouthed, dirty winged beings are known the world over for their quicksilver tongues and sharp talons. Not a creature to be messed with, for fear of mutilation, or even worse, defecation.
Merfolk - Perhaps the most interesting dweller of the sea, all merfolk have the ability to move freely below the depths as well as on land. No Merman or Mermaid looks quite the same, save the gills on their neck that filter both water and air.
Sirens - These temptress creatures, thought to have existed only in ancient lore and legend, have been known to inhabit small lagoons and lakes. Their seductive song renders those of the opposite sex into a stupified lust, and as such can be quite dangerous.
Octopians - These fearsome sea monsters have the ability to mask themselves as humans, though their true form is much more formidable. Able to turn their appendages from normal human arms and legs into abnormally long octopi tentacles, their strength is beyond even Merfolk, and are usually best to avoid.
Zombies, Skeletons, & the General Undead - These members of Tortuga isle have died, but via other means have regained a shadow form of their previous lives. Frightning as they may be, these creatures typically lack their former living strength, and those experienced in dealings with them dont usually show any emotion other than disgust.
New suggestions are always welcome here at Tortuga, if you've got an idea for a new/existing creature that we overlooked, let us know! Keep in mind that we'll only consider them if they fit into the theme we are trying to create; No modern creatures, or obvious ones that we left out for a purpose, such as Demons, Angels, or Vampires.
